Nature Site Guide

Pre Trail Briefing:

The purpose of the pre-trail briefing is to orientate thr guests in terms of the experience they will participate in. It is applicable to vehicle trails, walk trails, horse trails and bicycle trails and serves as a guideline for tourist guides to follow

Step 1: Introduction (Friendliness is the key action)

- Good morning/ afternoon welcome on our trail. My name is Bianca and i will be your guide.
Before we start with the trail I would like to introduce you to the area and what we will see and do.

  • Give a short overview of sondela History and the size and the number of game on the reserve
Step 2: Specific Information

We will do the following during the trail:
  • We will observe the animals, trees, grass, reptiles, birds.
  • You are welcome to ask me questions and if I do know the answers I will find out later for you.
  • If you see something that you want to look at stop me by calling my name and I will stop and we can discuss what we see.
  • The trail will take approximately an ......................
Is there any specific animal you would like to see?

Step 3: Safety Aspects that is important
  •  Do not stand while we are driving
  • Watch out for branches next to the road that can scrach you
  • Wait until the vehicle has stopped completely 
  • If there is any incident please follow my instructions
  • Other safety aspects that is important for eg. horse safety rules    
 End of trail briefings


The purpose of the end trail briefing is to get feedback from the guests in terms of the experience they participated in.

This whole process needs to be followed in an informal way

Step 1:  Introduction (Friendliness is the key action)

  • Before we end our drive / walk I would like to know what you enjoyed seeing- what was interesting
  • Explain that the feedback  they give can help you improve the future experiences
Step 2:  Specific Information

Ask the guests to complete the end of the trail feedback form

* When completed read it and take note of what to improve next time
*Make a cope for your portfolio as it is evidence
*Hand it in to the junior manager or reception to Manager
*Complete your logbook and get it signed- it is your ownly record of what you have done

Step 3: Thank them for participation in the trail
